Chris Mortensen is on ESPN (via telephone) recounting some high-drama confrontation between Nick and Wayne Huizenga at Saban’s home this morning. Supposedly Saban said he regretted leaving LSU but would stay at Miama if Huizenga asked him to. Huizenga then allegedly got “very emotional” and told Saban he had to “follow his heart”.

ESPN.com is reporting that Miami coach Nick Saban has asked Dolphins owner Wayne Huizenga to give him until Wednesday to announce a decision on whether he’ll stay with the Dolphins or head over to Tuscaloosa.

It was reported earlier that Bama wanted an answer by this afternoon. No word yet on if they’re willing to extend the deadline, although we’re sure they are, especially if they feel confident they’re going to get the answer they way.

Based on this development, we’re altering our earlier prediction.

Were we the only ones who got seriously freakin’ annoyed with ESPN for periodically interrupting their round-the-clock coverage of the Nick Saban Going to Alabama story with footage and commentary from some sort of college football bowl game or some such nonsense last night?
