Nope, we’re not kidding.
Per the Miami Herald, (the citing of which is sort of but not exactly like kidding), freshly ousted Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Mike Shula has had not one but two interviews for the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. You know, the very job vacated by Jesus H. “Nick” Saban, who took Shula’s job at Alabama.
That’s just messed up right there. Miami hiring Mike Shula would be dumber than green bean casserole without those little fried onions from a can on top.

Well dang. Former Catholic High star, (and Texas Longhorn Shoulda-Been-a-Star-but-got-Hosed), Major Applewhite has joined Nick Saban’s coaching staff at Alabama in an undisclosed capacity. We were kinda hoping the kid was coming back home. Best we can tell, this leaves Gary Crowton at the top of LSU’s list, although it’s still entirely possible that Les promotes Todd Monken.

The on again / off again deal is apparently on for real this time. ESPN reported that Florida State University has officially hired LSU Offensive Coordinator Jimbo Fisher to fill the same role for the Seminoles under head coach coach Bobby Bowden. This development gives us several things to think about as college football fans.

We’ll kick this off by reminding you that we’ve always said that Nick Saban is a damn good coach but definitely not the infallable football god many people (himself included) believe him to be.There are plenty of coaches, past and present, with more wins, more trophies, higher winning percentages, and better recruiting abilities. Having said all that, we also think all the hate flying around the interwebs, newspapers, radio and tv shows is unwarranted and misguided.
