This should dispel concerns by some (read: Jimmy Ott) that Les Miles seeks to run an old school, conservative, pound it up the middle style offense. It also makes us feel a little better about LSU’s commitment to keeping a top-tier coaching staff rather than going cheap and promoting some unknown assistant from within.

Well dang. Former Catholic High star, (and Texas Longhorn Shoulda-Been-a-Star-but-got-Hosed), Major Applewhite has joined Nick Saban’s coaching staff at Alabama in an undisclosed capacity. We were kinda hoping the kid was coming back home. Best we can tell, this leaves Gary Crowton at the top of LSU’s list, although it’s still entirely possible that Les promotes Todd Monken.

Defensive Coordinator Bo Pelini is on the Gopher’s list of candidates to replace fired (dumbest firing EVAR) coach Glen Mason, but, at least in this article, only as a footnote.
