Nope, we’re not kidding.
Per the Miami Herald, (the citing of which is sort of but not exactly like kidding), freshly ousted Alabama Crimson Tide head coach Mike Shula has had not one but two interviews for the Miami Dolphins head coaching job. You know, the very job vacated by Jesus H. “Nick” Saban, who took Shula’s job at Alabama.
That’s just messed up right there. Miami hiring Mike Shula would be dumber than green bean casserole without those little fried onions from a can on top.
Per the Herald
Shula is close friends with Dolphins president Bryan Wiedmeier.
Reaching out to Shula might be a good move for the Dolphins as the franchise is seeking someone with head coaching experience but also someone who will invigorate the fan base after five seasons without a playoff appearance.
The Shula name remains the standard by which coaching excellence is measured. Don Shula won 347 games during his career, the most by any NFL coach.

They want him because the Shula’s are such successful football coaches, correct? I mean after all Dave Shula’s record with the Cincinnati Bengals was 19-53. That’s good, right? [/sarcasm]

Jim Mora’s (younger-but-not-a-jr.) been invited to a second interview, too. As has Chan Gailey.
