In Defense of Nick Saban, Part 1: The Lying Thing

January 6th, 2007 | , , ,

We’ll kick this off by reminding you that we’ve always said that Nick Saban is a damn good coach but definitely not the infallable football god many people (himself included) believe him to be.There are plenty of coaches, past and present, with more wins, more trophies, higher winning percentages, and better recruiting abilities. Having said all that, we also think all the hate flying around the interwebs, newspapers, radio and tv shows is unwarranted and misguided. We’re going to address the top five gripes we’ve been hearing, and we welcome your feedback.

Nick Saban Lied About Leaving LSU for the NFL, Then He Lied About Leaving Miami for Alabama

Yeah, so? Everybody’s a liar sometimes. Nobody is truthful 100% of the time. And very few people would readily, publicly admit that they were actively seeking other employment prior to actually accepting a new job. In almost all cases, it would be an colossally stupid thing to do.

So we put this question to you, Mr. NickSabanIsADirtyLiar: Assuming you have a job, would you publicly acknowledge that you were actively looking for another job if you were asked, knowing your present employer would hear your answer? If your answer is no, why do you hold football coaches to a higher standard?
